This window, "An Easter Morning Scene." is another Alexander Ballantine & Son, from 1905. This window in 1905 cost approximately £45 and it shows Jesus appearing to Mary Magdalene and the other Mary on Easter morning after the resurrection. It was donated "In loving memory of Thomas Johnston of Corstorphine House died 26th May 1899 and Wilhelmina his wife died 22nd August 1905 Dedicated by their son and daughter." Dr. Thomas Nicol Johnston and his sister Mrs. Adamson.

Their gravestone stands in the west area of the churchyard opposite the porch door. Corstorphine House, mentioned with this and the previous window still stands in Corstorphine House Avenue off Station Road. In the 1880’s Thomas Johnston, the father, was a wine and sprit merchant, working from 1, Princess Street, Edinburgh, he lived in Corstorphine House.

The Johnston Grave Stones

The Friendly Society Parade at Corstorphine House c.1880.

Here we see the Friendly Society Parade assembled in front of Corstorphine House in the 1880’s. Although no direct link with the brewing Johnston’s, who built Corstorphine House, has been made yet it is highly probable that they were related, this might come to light with further research in the Old Parish Records.
